Invisalign®

Invisalign® proves that effective orthodontic treatment doesn’t have to be difficult. These ingenious appliances have helped millions straighten their teeth and achieve better-looking smiles, and they can help you too.

Invisalign® at Perimeter Dental

Invisalign® is a discreet and effective orthodontic treatment option that can help adjust the alignment and spacing of your teeth. The aligners are custom-made using models of your current teeth and the desired result.

You can wear them comfortably over your teeth and switch to new aligners every two weeks. Each set will shift your teeth slightly until you achieve your desired results, which can take anywhere from six months to two years. You can remove the aligners for eating, drinking, and cleaning only. At first, the aligners may feel tight, but they will become more comfortable after a few days. If you’re interested in Invisalign®, please contact one of our offices for more information or to schedule an appointment.

  • How does the Invisalign® process work?

The initial step involves taking photos of your facial and dental features, along with dental impressions and X-rays. These records are then sent to a specialized laboratory along with detailed instructions on the desired final outcome. Your impressions will be digitized to create a 3D model of your teeth, which will be used to create a mold with exact proportions in collaboration with your dentist. After the mold has been finalized, custom trays will be manufactured and sent to your dentist’s office. You will be required to wear each set of trays for two weeks at a time, for a period of time determined by your dentist.

  • Invisalign® vs. braces—what's the difference?

Here are some of the significant differences between Invisalign® and braces:

    • Materials: Invisalign® aligners are made of clear transparent plastic, whereas braces use wires and brackets.
    • Removability: Invisalign® can be taken out by the user at any time, while braces can only be removed by a professional.
    • Food Restrictions: Invisalign® allows the user to consume any food without special maintenance, while braces limit the user’s diet and require specific oral care.
    • Injury Risks: Invisalign® does not pose any injury risks, whereas braces can result in cuts and other injuries.
    • Visibility: Invisalign® is hardly noticeable, while braces are bulkier and attract attention.

Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on individual preferences. However, Invisalign® is known for being a more efficient and less painful way to straighten teeth.

  • How much does Invisalign® cost?

The pricing for this particular therapy is quite similar to that of traditional metal braces. The overall cost may fluctuate based on factors such as insurance coverage and the length/complexity of the treatment. Typically, most insurance policies will cover Invisalign® in the same way that they cover regular braces. However, it is unusual for insurance to cover Invisalign® solely for cosmetic reasons. Every case is unique, and the cost can vary depending on the number of aligners required for your treatment. If you have any financial concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office, and we’ll be happy to discuss your insurance coverage or any additional payment options that may be available.

  • Who can use Invisalign®?

Clear aligners are a viable option for most teenagers and adults who require mild to moderate orthodontic corrections. This treatment can address teeth that are crooked, misaligned or have noticeable spacing problems. Invisalign® can also help patients with minor bite issues. However, not all orthodontic problems can be treated with Invisalign®. If the issue is more extensive, additional treatment may be necessary.
